5 Beautiful Homeware Gifts for Mothering Sunday

Copper Tray copy 2

Consider this your Mothering Sunday klaxon! Whether you’re looking for a sweet gift for your own mum, or are browsing for something for yourself then this post is bound to tick a few homeware lust boxes. We’ve scoured the internet to find some of the best gifts for interiors lovers this Mothering Sunday. Some of these you can buy directly from this very post in our handy curated collection available from the Roost shop, to suit every sized wallet.

1. A tray

Trays have been having a moment for a good couple of years now and they’re not going anywhere. But we’re not talking your bog-standard, TV dinner, keep in the cupboard trays. Oh no. These trays are pretty – far too pretty to keep hidden in a drawer. They double up as a useful styling prop for a sideboard and keep a collection of candles, flowers, succulents or magazines looking stylish on your coffee table. Best presented carrying the first Mothering Sunday cup of tea for the mum in your life. The one in the photo above is a copper hammered tray, £39.95 from Made With Love Designs.

2. A fancy candle

Lighting a scented candle is an instant way to bring a sense of loved calm to your space. It’s the ultimate in that Scandi term “hygge” that was everywhere last year. The hygge concept is all about being kind to yourself and creating a cosy, nurturing environment. At home you can do this easily by lighting candles, snuggling up with throws and cushions – that sort of thing. So, give the gift of a candle and you’re giving the gift of hygge, right?

These organic and aromatic candles are made with essential oils and soy wax and cost from £12.50 at Natalie Bond. Perfect.

3. A plant

If you’re signed up to Roost NEWS (and if you’re not you should be – sign up in that box on the right-hand side!) you’ll already know about our latest plant-lovers tip – the plant subscription service from Geo-Fleur as mentioned in this lovely vlog by Lottie from Oyster and Pearl. But perhaps you don’t want to go down the whole subscription route, in which case you could go for a beautiful one-off succulent instead. You can’t go wrong with a pretty Echevaria, we reckon. And to go with your plant, how about a stylish plant holder? These monochrome pots, from £4.95, are by Rigby and Mac and are actually egg holders repurposed as mini succulent pots. Cute!

4. A piece of wall art

There’s something really personal and touching about receiving a print – even better if it’s framed. A thoughtfully chosen print shows how much you know a person, plus it’s the kind of present that will last forever. We’ve brought together some of our favourites in our SHOP collection below.

5. A decorative accessory

The beauty of a gift is that it really doesn’t need to be practical. It could simply be something pretty that your mum (or you, for that matter) would consider a self-indulgent frivolous purchase. But, just like a piece of wall art, a pretty decorative accessory will last and last and last.

Shop our favourite finds in the collection below. Don’t forget, all our prices are the same whether you buy direct from us or from the retailer. So you may as well save yourself the bother and add to your cart here (more time for a cup of tea, you know?)….

Isn’t it? I know everyone’s doing copper and it’s everywhere but I still can’t help myself!

Everything is gorgeous here – I love it all! Especially that hammered copper tray, the plants and the plant pots… yep, so just about everything. I think I will also print this out and leave it in strategic places around the house 😉

Am so glad to see you refer to Hygge as ‘last year’. I was getting well sick of it. Anyway, the tray…very cool, trays are a good gift. I kind of collect them. Please don’t tell anyone.
