There’s something pretty special about a chunky hardback book full of beautiful photography, don’t you think? And when it’s a chunky hardback book full of beautiful photography of houses then it doesn’t really get much better in my opinion.
If you share my love of the interiors coffee table book then you need to add Will Taylor’s new offering Dream Decor to your reading list. Will’s the blogger behind uber style blog Bright Bazaar and what he doesn’t know about colour and styling probably isn’t worth knowing.
The thing I liked about this book was the fact it didn’t talk down to the reader. It’s not full of pretentious, arty and impossible to achieve looks. The message that’s continually reinforced is one of personality – this isn’t a paint-it-by-numbers decorating book. Instead, Will offers us ideas for how to mix colour and achieve a range of interiors looks, all the while staying true to our own individual personality and style. Amen to that.
Each page is a feast for the eyes, with stunning photography you can get lost in. Even if you’re surrounded by a sea of baby toys and toast crumbs on the floor, you can pretend you’re in a Spanish Colonial paradise in Santa Barbara, for example. It’s a haven of escapism, especially when it’s raining outside.
It’s a book packed with inspiration, from useable tips to aspirational photography and is hands down my favourite source of decorating ideas at the moment. As a self-confessed Pinterest junkie, this is saying a lot.
If you add one book to your coffee table this summer, make it this one. It’ll be a pretty table for it and you never know, it might inspire a whole new interiors look too. Happy reading.
