There’s something about spring that screams colour, don’t you think? I’m a huge colour magpie but none more so than at this time of year, when I want my indoor environment to reflect the shades of outside. Brightly coloured tulips and daffodils in the garden, blue skies (hopefully) and vibrant green grass – these are my colour crushes in spring and the hues that make me happy at home, which is why I seem to be drawn so strongly to the Modern Boho trend as soon as the sun comes out.
This trend reminds me of Brazilian beach homes, lakeside houses on the Med and sun dappled olive groves. It’s how I’d decorate my house if I lived somewhere that was permanently hot and sunny and, if I’m honest, how I’d like to makeover my entire Victorian terrace here in not-always-sunny South Devon.
The rules are simple: colour, texture and plant-life are IN while minimalism, monochrome and sleek surfaces are OUT. Think handcrafted wooden furniture, textiles featuring woven embroidery and pom poms and bright pinks alongside yellows, reds and blues. This is not a trend for the faint of heart.

Texture is key to this look, so mix and match crochet with patchwork, weaving with silk embroidery and you’ll be over halfway there to creating your own Modern Boho vibe at home. If you don’t want to go all out then adding some Boho style textile pieces to your room is a great way to quickly update it and inject a splash of the trend without investing in a whole room makeover. In fact, swapping around a few cushions and adding a rug or throw here and there is a quick and easy way to embracing the trend however far you want to go with it.
Here are some other Modern Boho pieces which we love…
