ROOST TV: A Quick Weekend DIY Idea

Fireplace

Got a spare two minutes? Honestly, this is one of those quick jobs that you can squeeze in between sorting out tea and putting the kids to bed – it’s SO SPEEDY!

When we redecorated our bedroom recently (full tour coming on Monday!) we decided to put some unused logs in the fireplace, just to bring that area to life a little. The room’s decorated in a rich blue (Aubusson Blue by Annie Sloan) with gold accents, so I decided to use some leftover gold spray paint to create a gold effect on the logs.

Here’s how it went (this video’s only 1 minute and 20 seconds – and it took even less time to do the logs themselves!):

You could use any colour you wanted on the end of the logs, or even use multiple colours for a real colour popping effect. Stack them up higgledy piggledy (as I have) or create a more uniform display by cutting the logs to the same size and stacking them neatly, jigsaw style.

The main thing is, have fun and be creative. You’ve got nothing (apart from a few logs and a dash of spray paint) to lose.

Have a great weekend!

What a great idea! I love that you’ve just put a pop of gold on the ends to compliment the blue fireplace but have left the rest of the logs all natural. It looks great!!

P.s. I can’t wait to see your new bedroom in more detail πŸ™‚
