ROOST TOUR: A Modern Scandi Inspired Family Home

Scandi Inspired Family Home

If there’s one thing you can count on when you check out Morgana of Coffee Work Sleep Repeat‘s Instagram feed, it’s drool-worthy photos of inspirational interiors bursting with cosy family vibes. A Scandi inspired family home featuring unique prints, mid-century shapes and plenty of succulents, this house is proof that having kids doesn’t have to mean compromising on style.

“We live in a three bedroom semi-detached house in North West England,” says Morgana. “When I say ‘we’ I mean my husband, two daughters – aged five and nine – and myself. I’d like to say our home is minimal, but unfortunately my children and husband don’t prescribe to this and we end up with ‘stuff’ everywhere! I’m always on the lookout for great and aesthetically pleasing storage solutions to try and combat this problem.”

“I love white walls, clean lines and pops of colour,” explains Morgana. “This is reflected in most of our rooms. I’m such an indecisive person and get easily bored. It’s one of the reasons I went for plain white walls – you can easily change the colour and feel of the room with different accent colours and soft furnishings without having to completely redecorate.”

White walls give Morgana the advantage of a blank canvas in rooms that are often being altered, which is especially handy in kids’ bedrooms. “The girls rooms are always changing as they get older,” says Morgana. “I’m so pleased I stuck to my guns and painted their wall white (not pink or papered with One Direction wall paper!). New bedding and wall art are great ways of updating rooms and their storage shelves give them a way of showing what they love, which for my eldest is Harry Potter and Star Wars.”

The white house shelf – pictured above – is by Ferm Living (you can get the Ferm Living The Little Dorm on Amazon), and there are similar ones in H&M, or if you’re looking for something a little larger then this one from La Redoute is lovely. The pink cube (pictured below) is from Dinky and Dandy.

“I love searching Etsy for prints and grabbing frames from IKEA,” says Morgana. “I bought a few picture shelves from IKEA so I could display art without having to hang it – it means I get to swap pictures around whenever I feel like it and I can revamp the space seasonally.”

The Raindrop print below is by Seventy Tree and the mountain print incorporates a quote from Biffy Clyro – one of Morgana’s favourite bands – and is from OhCorrin on Etsy.

One of the lovely things about Morgana’s home is that many of the pieces have a story to tell or a personal connection to the family. Whether it’s the print featuring lyrics from one of Morgana’s favourite songs, or the Welsh Dresser (below) that used to be her mum’s (rescued from the side of a road!) these items inject colour, warmth and unique personality into the space.

Morgana’s biggest tip when it comes to decorating? “Don’t be afraid of colour! With a neutral palette like white walls you can afford to be brave with the pops of colour you put in. If something doesn’t work then just change it until you get it the way you want. Whether it’s a new throw, rug, or picture you can change a space without having to spend a lot of money.”

We’ve put together a collection of pieces from the Roost Shop inspired by Morgana’s home, if you want to get her look. You can buy all of these items direct from this very post, simply add to your basket, checkout and TA DA! You’ve got a slice of Morgana’s style in your own home.

what a sweet little home! love when people have lots of pieces that have personal meaning to them. we used to have a welsh dresser that was my nans when i was little but unfortunately when we moved to wales couldn’t bring it with us. i still have a chest of drawers now though that used to belong to my nan, and then my dad!

I’m the same! The chest of drawers in my toddler’s room used to belong to my grandma and our mid-century sideboard was my grandparents’ too. Makes me love them even more.

LOVE seeing photos of Morgana’s home on Instagram. What a brilliant post to highlight its awesomeness. We’re moving house very soon and I’m definitely taking the white tips on board – I’d been half-heartedly planning to paint my son’s room white but now it’s a certain!
