TREND WATCH: Oversized Art

Pixers Lips print - Roost

What’s better than a feature wall? A feature wall displaying a huge, gigantic piece of oversized art, that’s what.

Coming from an art loving family, for me, home wouldn’t be home without art on the walls. My aunt is an artist and my late grandma was one too, and their paintings are right up there with some of my most treasured home possessions (you can see some of them in this little vlog over at Roost TV). So, trend or not, art would always be a big feature in our house.

It’s probably not surprising, then, that I’m all over the oversized art trend at the moment. In fact, one of the finishing touches of our bedroom makeover will be a large piece of art over the bed. It’s coming all the way from Canada and I couldn’t be more excited about it – it’s going to (hopefully) bring the room together and help create balance in the absence of a headboard.

If you’re currently looking at ways to add a bold dash of personality to a room, create some interest on a plain wall or simply inject some colour then a piece of oversized art could be just what you need. The piece at the top of this post is the Kiss Kiss canvas print from art and poster site Pixers, £117.  Here are some more gems I’ve found from my travels around the internet…

Morning Breeze by Fintan Whelan at Fine Art Seen - Roost

This painting is called Morning Breeze and is by artist Fintan Whelan, from art website Fine Art Seen. This particular piece has now sold but you can get your hands on more of Whelan’s work over on his page on Fine Art Seen.

Another piece from a Fine Art Seen artist, Cherry Field (below) by Canadian artist Lisa Carney is still available. And at £128, it’s an affordable treasure.

For something less colour-colour happy check out Dutch online art shop My Deer. This piece is a watercolour painting print called String of Pearls and features gentle green botanicals on a fresh white background. The largest size (60 x 90) is €79.50 (also loving the Berber rug situation in this lifestyle shot below).
